Harry's heart pounds as he rings the doorbell.

“You're too young. Go explore the world. Find yourself. Don't return until you've... matured.”

The words Severus used to reject him at eighteen haunt him as footsteps approach. He isn't mature enough yet to appease Severus' conscience, but he's twenty-five already and he's waited more than he can bear.

Seven years. Seven long, empty years... Surely Severus will see reason. Surely he'll...

“Potter... What are you doing here?”

“I've mourned every new beginning we haven't shared together. I'm... tired... of waiting. Let me come home.”

“Harry...”

“Please...”

“Come in, then. Come... home.”

Oh, my poor Harry. Seven years is a long time, I don't know how he survived this. I understand why Severus rejected him, but still I think that it was stupid.
“Come in, then. Come... home.” - it was so beautiful! I'm so glad that Severus let Harry into his home and heart.

It was just wonderful to see your name on my in-box, my friend. I hope you had a wonderful time over the Christmas vacation and that the weather in Scotland wasn't as bad as the one we got around here.

Now on to your review: let's see... Yes. Severus was being impossibly stubborn in this one, wasn't he? I think I'd have given Harry one of my frying pans to hit him over the head repeatedly if he hadn't relented, but he did, that clever, clever, Slytherin! ;D

I'm so sorry my dear, I didn't want to worry you. Everything is good right now but I had a bit crazy time before Christmas - we finally get our flat and we were so busy with moving in and repairs. And we had only a really bad mobile broadband so I couldn't read and write comments too much. But now we had a normal landline and unlimited broadband so here I am :)
The weather is not too bad, but we had a lot of storms -it was so bloody windy and rainy.
I promise I won't disappear again!

That's all right. Worrying about one another is what friends do, isn't it? At least you weren't gone because you were sick and your comment reminded me of how long it takes for the internet services to be re-connected to your new address every time you move house in the UK. 3-6 weeks, it used to drive my family batty...

I heard about the storms you had over there, and I'm glad that you weren't trapped in any of them. We've had a pretty terrible winter around here so far. My garden has been buried in snow for weeks, but things are getting better slowly.

that felt rather tortuous. seven years can be a good time to grow - but when you already know in your heart what you want how can you wait that long!

True. All that waiting must have been absolutely horrible for Harry. I'd bet Severus didn't enjoyed it, either, but he can be irrationally stubborn when he's putting Harry's own good before everything else... At least all of that is over now, so they can look towards the future with new hope.
