Summary: Severus Snape knows that you can chase a butterfly all over the field and never catch it. It isn't until you sit quietly on the grass and ignore it altogether that it flutters boldly closer and alights right on your shoulder.
Catching Butterflies.
Severus Snape doesn't like competing with the masses, fighting battles he can't win or settling for anything less than what he wants.
He doesn't want to be one of Potter's men. He wants to be his only. So he sits patiently in his corner every Friday, watching Potter's enticing twirling on the dance floor snare conquest after conquest.
Their turning point finally arrives when the man he's crazy about approaches him one night:
“Why don't you ever dance?”
“Because I'm waiting.”
“Waiting for what?”
“For you to want something past tomorrow, Harry.”
Potter squirms, blushing adorably.
“Then... let's dance, Severus.”

Maybe this work is short but full of emotions - I can see that Severus is very possessive and this is good. He deserves love. Especially Harry's love.
And I really like this dance theme, I always think that their dance could be very exciting.

I know that I usually portray him in a very different light, but every now and then I enjoy seeing him as a confident and patient man who doesn't consider himself beneath anyone else when it comes to his ability to snare Harry's attention.
I agree with your comment about Severus deserving love, Harry's love in particular, and now that our gryffindor has finally decided to stop fooling around, he might actually get it.
Thanks, as always, for taking the time to both read and review. Receiving a comment from you is always a pleasure. ;D
