The Loving Barnacles.

“Then unca-Arry said: I lurve ya heart and soul, unca-Sev'rus.”

“Awww... Unca-Arry is so woomantic!”

“Stop it, Rosie. Teddy's almost at the best part.” Hugo protested.

“Then your Da' fell off his chair and your Ma' said: I knew it!”

“That's when unca-Sev'rus said: YOU'RE A FOOL, POTTAH! ” They squealed, giggling together gleefully.

“No'un calls unca-Arry a fool xcept unca-Sev'rus. He's so brave...”

Severus groaned outside the door.
“Must we tell them that I'm here? They'll stick to me like barnacles...”

Harry smiled, kissed the tip of his nose tenderly and whispered:
“Barnacles look good on you, sweetheart.”

little children are the BEST at seeing to the soul of who a person is, i have found. (after being a parent, and working at daycares and on school busses for many years)

True. Kids do see the world and the people around them in a totally different way and are able to pick up the real nature of most individuals, unless they are being deceived on purpose.

Oh, they are so sweet! I can see how much they adore Severus and Harry. It's amazing that kids see more than adults. Even if sometimes they don't understand everything kids are just genius about emotions.

I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this one, myk, since I very rarely work with any of the Next Gen children and I'm usually a bit uncertain about my ability to pull off their voices correctly whenever I do.

It is true that kids in general are extremely perceptive when it comes to things like emotions and kindness of heart. Of course Severus relishes being the focus of all sorts of barnacle-like affection, but he'll never -ever- admit that out loud, will he? ;)
