Summary: The signs of Potter's madness are so unusual that it takes Severus Snape a while to spot them.

 
Potter's Madness.

“Harry wants to have dinner with you at a perfectly respectable establishment. He's single, attractive, has financial independence and is genuinely kind. I don't understand your misgivings, Severus. It sounds perfectly harmless.”

“It's not harmless. It's... a date. He's talking about the most romantic wizarding restaurant there is, Poppy. He sent roses last week. And chocolates. I think he's trying to... woo... me.”

Poppy couldn't resist laughing.
“Merlin! You are slow, Severus.”

He gaped.
“You think Potter is...?”

“Smitten? Besotted? In love? Yes. I'd say he is.”

“He's mad, then.”

“Of course he's mad, Severus. But he's mad about... you.”

OMG lol! I can just hear the tone of voice. How unimaginable this idea is to him.

and Besotted! that is such a great word. I love when I see it used.

and I can't believe it took roses and chocolates before Severus realized Harry's intentions. For such an intelligent spy he's being a bit slow on the uptake!

LOL. True. I don't think poor Severus was expecting Poppy to agree with him on the point that Harry was trying to woo him. He's so unused to being pursued romantically that he simply missed every single sign... I'm sure Harry will soon fix his cluelessness with a giant-sized dose of good, old-fashioned, love... ;D

I agree with Poppy - Severus is slow, of course that Harry is trying to woo him. And please, Severus - maybe you are slow, but you are not stupid, so be mad, just like Harry is. Because love is a very good madness.

Yes, Severus was being awfully slow in this one but, as you said, he isn't stupid. I'd like to imagine that he goes on that date with Harry and stays around long enough to discover that having the Boy Who Lived madly in love with him is precisely what he's always wanted... ;D

LOL, this was such a darling. It's so typical of Severus to see Harry's attempts to woo him as a madness or some psychiatric condition or whatnot. It really is a bit sad... but the hope for a future made it up for me XD.

I agree with you on the point that Severus' disbelieving attitude here is a bit sad, in the sense that it shows just how insecure he is about his own charms. Hopefully Harry will be given the chance to show him that he is as worthy of being loved as any other man...
