Q&A.

“Would you dance with me tonight, Headmaster?”

“There you are, auror Potter. I was beginning to fear the dullness of a... Saviour-less... Ministry Ball.”

Potter glared.
“I want an answer this time, Severus.”

Severus smiled, looking wistfully at the couples waltzing past.
“Must you ask the same obnoxious question every year?”

“Must you give me the same obnoxious brush off every time I do?”

Severus closed his eyes, suddenly exhausted of arguing.
“It wouldn't be just... dancing... for either of us, Potter.”

“So?”

“I'm too old to change now, Harry. I... can't.”

“Then don't change. Changing perfection is foolish anyway.”

*nods* perfection doesn't mean perfect...it means perfect for HARRY. and that's just what severus is, and how harry loves him for himself, snark and all.

True. Severus is definitely perfect for Harry, warts and all, and now that Harry has finally figured out the reasons behind Severus' stalling he'll be able to dismantle Sev's objections one by one...

True. Severus should have known that Harry's stubbornness is probably equal, if not greater, to his own. I have no doubt that gryffindor relentlessness will triumph here in the end, so Severus might as well give up already... ;D

I'm hoping that he might do just that. Even if Sev doesn't go dancing tonight I doubt that Harry will give up on him any time soon, so he'll end up surrendering at some point... ;D

Oh... I don't have a story for this piece, Lily. I don't ever plot back-stories for my 100's since I see them as a snapshot rather than a teaser. I'll try playing with this idea in my head and see if I can come up with some sort of decent plot. If I do I might turn this into a longer one-shot for you. Not a series, though, since I'm terrible at those...

My God, Severus is so stubborn. But he is lucky that Harry is more stubborn than him. Severus is perfect for Harry just like Harry is perfect for Severus. Dancing is just a beginning.
I would love to read what happen after dance.

I agree with you on the point that, although Severus is stubborn, Harry can be equally determined. Yes, dancing would be only the beginning of their romance, but then I think that the dancing would be just a confirmation of intent for them both. Their hearts are already involved. This is now a matter of... surrendering.

I don't know what happens after their dance or even if there is a dance, since I never plot back-stories for my 100's, but I promised Lily to turn this drabble into a longer one-shot if I can come up with a decent plot for it, so you might one day get to find out what happens next...

LOL, Harry will get him in the end, no matter how stubborn Severus decides to be. I'm sure their coming together will be all the more... magical... because of their long waiting, though, so Harry might be getting some well deserved reward for all his patience. :D
