Lacking the energy to argue, Severus decides to progress with his ritual, ignoring Potter entirely.

Hours later, Severus wakes from his restorative sleep feeling calmer and refreshed. He doesn’t realize Potter stayed until the man asks him quietly, “What’s wrong with you, Snape?”

“There’s nothing-

“Don’t.”

“Potter-

“Don’t lie. Please.”
