Summary: ‘I want you like this, just like this. In my bed. Under my blankets.’ Harry realized, breath hitching, as he stared at Snape.
Harry’s Epiphany.
Snape was asleep in the staffroom’s hearthside chair, sallow skin glowing golden in the firelight. Sleep had disheveled his hair, removed his usual scowl, transformed bitter professor into dedicated scholar.
Harry smiled fondly at the book on Snape’s lap, at the ink-stained quill still dangling from his fingers. ‘I want to sleep with you.’ He realized, breath hitching, as he stared at his uptight, highly moral colleague. ‘I want you like this. In my bed. Under my blankets. I want your arms around me. Your head on my chest. Your heart in my hands. I want you safe. Sound. Mine.’

Date: 2017-09-25 07:22 pm (UTC)PS: Yes, there was a typo of the 'shallow/sallow skin' variety in this drabble. I wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it to me. Thanks so much for doing so. :)

Date: 2017-10-03 12:29 pm (UTC)It is such a perfect moment you portray here. I can practically hear the fire crackling in the hearth, hear the silent and deep breaths that indicate Severus is deeply asleep, and read the text (and there's even an illustration) in the book on his lap. It is all there, with just a few words.
And what does it say about Severus that - finally - he can just relax somewhere (in an almost public place like the staff room)? The knowledge makes me smile and warms me.
Harry is so real: a bit selfish (his first wishes are for himself, after all) and caring for another (the last wishes are for Severus's benefit and well-being). He is so very human here. I love him more for it.
Thank you once again for sharing another wonderful story, dear friend! ^^

Date: 2017-10-07 11:38 pm (UTC)I agree with you on the point that this must be both more and less than anyone has ever asked -or wanted- from Severus. Harry is a greedy thing, but then I honestly believe that Severus Snape is the kind of man who deserves someone to want ALL of him, always.
Thanks so much for taking the time to both read and review another work of mine, my dear friend. I hope you are doing well in your real life, and that the fact that you don't seem to be around as much as you used to means you are busy in the best possible way.
The hugest hugs you can imagine
