Summary: Severus gives Potter The Look. He should have known such refined seduction technique was too subtle for a Gryffindor.
 

The Look.

Severus would never earn an Outstanding on a seduction test, but he wouldn’t get a Troll, either; so he was understandably miffed when Potter ignored the reasonably attractive I-want-to-kiss-you-stupid look he’d spent a month perfecting, and rambled on about Quidditch.

“Potter.” Severus interrupted, determined to draw the idiot’s attention to The Look. Potter didn’t catch on, and Severus realized he wouldn’t bag his colleague unless he abandoned his precious subtlety altogether. ‘Drat.’

“I’m giving you The Look.”

Potter blinked. “What look?”

“The I-want-to-kiss-you-stupid look.”

“Why?”

Severus goggled. “Er-”

“Never mind. Forget the look, you, git. Go for the kiss instead.”

Ha, ha. *smothers laugh* Um. Poor Severus. All those preparations and hard work put into perfecting it - and the Look falls on blind eyes...

Trust a Gryffindor to trample all subtle hints with ignorance and force a well-laid plan to dissipate into nothing! And, even worse, forcing a Syltherin to spell things out and to - gasp! - act like a ... like ... like a Gryffindor!! Shocking.

But: In the end Harry swoops in for the kiss. (Finally.)

LOL. Poor Severus indeed! An entire month of hard work, practicing until his 'Look' was positively flawless, and Harry goes and ignores it. Unbelievable! Harry is lucky Severus likes him so much, or he'd have ended up being hexed into a cockroach or something equally unpleasant. He'll probably be, if he keeps forcing Severus to behave like an unsubtle Gryffindor. Some things are just not on, don't you think? :D :D :D

I'm pretty sure headdesking himself until Harry's attitude made sense to him was all poor Sev could think about as he pondered where, exactly, his elegantly subtle seduction plan had gone wrong. He's definitely lucky that Harry liked him anyway. Just as Harry is lucky that Severus wants into his pants, or they'd be hexing one another in some sort of ridiculous Slytherin/Gryffindor show of oneupmanship from here to eternity. :D :D :D
