On The Uselessness Of Vixens.

Lucius smiles smugly upon learning that Potter's gone absolutely bonkers, offering no comfort whatsoever:
“See? If you'd followed my advise when I first suggested you replace your ghastly 'leave-everything-to-the-imagination' robes with something that screams 'feast-your-eyes-on-my-gorgeous-collarbones, you, lucky sod', you'd have bagged Potter sooner.”

Severus' left eye twitches.
“I did not 'bag' him.”

“He asked you out to dinner.”

“That doesn't mean anything.”

“Of course it does. We're talking about Potter.”

“It can't be attraction.”

“Merlin, you're thick.”

“I was gardening when he arrived, Luc. My scruffy overalls aren't exactly vixen material, are they?”

“Vixens don't bag Saviors, Severus. Heroes do.”

For some unknown reason I didn't expect Malfoy senior to be quite so perceptive when it comes to Snape and Potter, but clearly he has the more accurate view! Well done, pekeleke!

LOL. I'd bet there are plenty of folks out there who'd agree with your take on Lucius Malfoy. I just wanted to put him on a different, wiser, dynamic for once, because I've always had the feeling that a baddie who loves his son as much as he does, might also love his best friend honestly enough to set aside his own prejudices in order to be there for his mate when the chips are down. ;D

Who would have thought that Lucius could give more than just fashion advice? Although one could argue that Lucius told Severus in a very nice and polite way to 'get naked' so as to catch Harry's eye. ^^ (I have to admit that I never really know what to make of Lucius. He seems to be such a cool snob, but he and Severus must have had a very strong friendship at least once - you do not make someone the godfather of your son just because he is a fellow Death Eater... Hmm.)

On to another topic: you are back! I missed you so much, my friend! I am overjoyed to see you back here; and to have yet one more drabble of yours to read, too, of course! ;) I hope you are well and thanks for brightening my day so unexpectedly.

LOL. Yep. Lucius was definitely advising Severus to loose a layer or two in order to catch his Potter. Not that Severus needed to put on that kind of show, but I'd bet Harry would have been a very happy Savior indeed if Severus had listened to his best friend. :D

I think Lucius' character is very difficult to wrap one's mind around because he is very one dimensional in the books. We see nothing but the snobbish Death Eater until the very last moment, when the full extent of his love for Draco rears its beautiful head, making us all suddenly realize that there are very interesting depths to Lucius' character. Depths that are left completely unexplored but that are so very intriguing, at least to me.

Yes, I'm finally back, and I'm happy that you're so thrilled about it. I've missed you too, you know? I'm glad that this little drabble managed to brighten up your day.
