Hummm... I've always imagined that Severus, for all his glorious snarkiness and usual self-assured behavior with regards to everything else, would be extremely shy/insecure when it comes to the art of developing and maintaining deeply personal relationships. He seems to have failed miserably at making and keeping friends throughout his life and I honestly believe that, in that respect at least, Harry should take the lead and show him precisely how such things are done... :D
