Summary: Harry Potter doesn't need anyone's reverence. He prefers to revere someone else in his own inimitable way.

Reverence.
Potter dances like a passionate sprite. Like a man on a mission. Like a boy who... survived.
People flow around him like a tide. Attempting to seduce Harry Potter, the Savior, while forgetting to remember simply Harry, the man.
I sit quietly in my corner, smiling with perverse amusement as they all try -and fail- to snare what I know to be mine.
Harry may dance with others for now but he'll drag me, hand-in-hand, towards the dance-floor as soon as the last song begins, kissing my mouth reverently before whispering:
“I saved the last dance for you, Severus Snape-Potter...”

I'm pretty sure that Harry notices whoever looks at Severus, too, even though the man himself doesn't. They're both pretty certain about their position in each other's life for once, which is something I don't normally write about, but I wanted to give them a little break from my usual angsty themes... :D

Thanks so much for both this lovely comment and the link you send me. I had that song in mind while I was writing this. It's one of my all time favorite songs for things like Valentine's dinner, anniversary celebrations and the like... I usually go for Michael Buble's version but Leonard Cohen has the kind of rough voice that made me feel as if someone was whispering the lyrics directly my ear... ;)

I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this drabble and I sincerely hope that there wasn't any particular reason for why you were feeling down before you read this thing. I like the idea that my work can make you feel better, but I'd rather you are happy and content to start with. :)
It's true that Severus is quite confident about his position in Harry's life for once and I'm pretty sure that confidence didn't come easily. But now that battle is behind them and it's time for them to enjoy each other and -dare I say it?... Yes:- live happily ever after. :D

I really like Severus here - he is so sure about Harry's love, he knows that other people would never have Harry's full attention, because they are blind, they can't see HARRY.

Yes, I know how much you enjoy dancing stories. I love having the boys dance, too. I'm glad that you enjoyed this particular version of Severus so much. I wanted him to be really confident in this one, so it's nice to hear that you liked him like this. Maybe I should write this sort of dynamic a bit more often than I do...

It's nice to hear from you again, my friend, although I must confess that I'm feeling a bit confused. I had assumed that your disappearance from fandon was because you had finished Uni and gotten a job or something. For some reason I was sure you'd been at university somewhere in Europe last year and graduated in June... Are you doing a Masters now, then? If so I do wish you the best luck with your finals.

Nope, I went to Europe for an academic year (Fall 2012, Spring 2013) and I had one semester (Fall 2013) left to be able to get my undergraduate. I pushed my graduation semester back by one. So I graduated *counts* Two weeks ago. Wow.
