I'm not sure if you're talking about Severus allowing himself to be vulnerable when he had the piercing done or just now, when he was brought to St Mungo's following whatever unspecified accident lead to the whole 'disrobe his unconscious body' debacle. I suppose you're right about it either way. Both situations place Severus in a vulnerable position that he wouldn't have particularly enjoyed.
