I've been told before that when I write angst, I really, really, deliver a pretty powerful punch and it sounds like I might have overdone it a bit here, by the sound of your review.
I'm sorry you felt "devastated" at one point in this story, as I simply wanted to use Severus' insecurity as a tool to set the stage for the final romantic love declaration to take place between the two. I'm thrilled that you managed to enjoy this story, despite how overwhelmed you became with Severus' misery.
It is true that being able to meet different people and seeing the same characters we all love through their eyes is one of the very best things in fandom, one that never ceases to teach me things about these characters that I would have never thought of on my own.
