Severus is too startled by Potter’s unkind gloating to hide his hurt, “You surprise me. I didn’t realize you hate me enough to delight in my heartbreak.”

“That fool doesn’t deserve you,” Potter growls, “I’d gladly watch him wander off the nearest cliff.”

“Potter, what-?

“I like you. Immensely, Sna-er-Severus.”
