I agree with that sentiment wholeheartedly, sarahsezlove, that's why I'm always so hesitant to touch the Lily/Severus dynamic when I write snarry. I don't want to fall into the pit of 'maybe Snape sees Harry as Lily's replacement,' but I don't like dismissing the love, the friendship, that Severus felt for her either, because those feelings are such a cornerstone of his character that writing them off will mean changing him irrevocably.
