LOL. Yes, Severus is both, himself and the 'kitty' but I think it'll be really hard for Harry to remember that the cat is still 'there' once Severus returns to his own form if Harry never gets to see it again. ^.^
I agree with you on the point that Sev isn't precisely a 'cold fish' although sometimes he does behave like one. 'Guarded' is a good adjective to describe him, so here is to hoping that he'll stop being so guarded around Harry. ;D
