It is true that I tend to portray Severus as a very damaged and self-conscious individual, but I'm honestly convinced that this is the sort of man who really lurks under the horrible Death Eater/Hogwarts professor persona that he has spent his life impersonating.
Harry's stubbornness is really the only thing that will get through Severus when he is in a self-protective mood and I'm glad that you enjoy this particular dynamic, since these are the kind of stories that I usually write. :D
