Summary: Severus receives an invitation. A shocking and very—Potterish one.
So—Er—Pint?
Dear Snap-Severus,
I’ve thought long and hard about doing this. I’m aware that, with you being you, it’d be smarter NOT to do it, but I have to. I just—have to.
I love you.
Shocking, I know.
I also think you need someone. Someone willing to embrace:
-Your brilliant mind.✔
-Your acerbic wit.✔
-Potion fumes.✔
-Crazy working hours.✔
-Your loyalty to Hogwarts.✔
-Books everywhere.✔
-Your self-hatred.✔
-Your temper.✔
-Intimacy issues.✔
-An alarming disregard for your own health.✔
-Dumbledore’s anoying portrait.✔
-Dungeon-y living conditions.✔
-Useless Arguments.✔
-The real you.✔
I desperately want to be this someone, so…er pint?
Yours,
Pott-Harry?

Date: 2017-02-23 05:56 pm (UTC)I think Severus's reaction might be something like this: First he will hurl something against a wall - a teacup or a container with potions ingredients, whatever is at hand - he will curse and rage about lunatic idiots, bird-brained Gryffindors with an over-inflated ego, bloody ruddy Potter!
He will first crumple the letter and then rip it into small pieces, wild magic crackling and storming around him. Some time later his tirade will come to a halt, his chest heaving, his hair standing on end and sparking with magic, bits of paper slowly sailing to the ground around him.
With the last pieces Severus will sink to the floor, confused and his anger simmering like a white-hot flame in his mind. This... this blasted, infuriating man! Was it not enough? Hadn't he suffered enough already? Wasn't he entitled to a bit of respite now, after everything?! He would sigh and pick up a shred of paper that had landed on his lap. "e real you", it said. Could it be? Could this not be a cruel joke after all?
Frantically Severus would look about the sorry remains of the once neatly written letter fluttering on the floor with each of his moves. He would desperately search his mind for a spell to gather the tiny pieces, to reassemble them into their original state. (It would take him a bit longer than usual, but only ... because he hadn't needed that particular spell in some time, of course.)
When he would have succeeded in fixing the letter he would read it over and over again; scrutinze its every stroke of the quill, every droplet of splattered ink (not that he could find one - dratted Potter must have really been very accurate when he wrote it) and every crossed out word and all the asinine blathering in between.
After hours of pouring over the Letter, Severus would at last come to two conclusions. One, Potter was mad as a hatter. Two, so, it seemed, was he...
His reply would be short, neat. "Yes."
Thank you dear friend, thank you for a new and refreshing (and most suprising) love letter drabble. I enjoyed it very much! ^^

Date: 2017-02-25 02:15 am (UTC)I've caved to several readers' demand for a sequel on this one, so I've already written my own version of Severus' response to Harry's letter, which I plan to post out next week, but I think it'd be awesome if you posted this one too, as a sort of choose your own ending story. Mine doesn't offer much in terms of resolution as it currently stands, that's the curse of writing 100's, isn't it? One can't afford enough words to flesh out a story properly, so it'd be nice to have the option that you wrote as a more satisfying alternative. <3
Anyway, I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this little one, my friend. Thanks, as always, for your kind and lovely comment. :D

Date: 2017-02-24 01:46 pm (UTC)I've enjoyed reading the speculation about Severus' reply in the comments.:)
I also have to commend Harry for his courage here. This sort of letter takes guts.
I bet Severus says yes. Eventually.
Very fun. :)
