“That's easy. If I could be anything I wanted I'd be a book.”

Ron gaped.
“Why would you choose something so boring when you could be a time-turner, a refillable cookie-jar or, even better, the Quidditch World-Cup prize?  Books are just... Ewww!”

Harry laughed:
“Hermione will have your head for saying that.”

“She's too busy gushing over the Arithmancy encyclopedia that your git has been raving about since...  Oh!”

“Ron...”

“You're jealous of Severus' books?  That's bonkers, mate!”

“It's the way he looks at them, like they're all he needs or something.”

“He looks at you like that, too, Harry...”

Perfect title to a sweet story. It's nice Harry has Ron to confirm how Severus looks at him, but I bet Severus would love to demonstrate that look to Harry and make all those fears go away. :)

I definitely agree with you on the point that Harry is lucky to have Ron there, telling him precisely how Severus looks at him.

I'm pretty sure that Severus will enjoy dispelling Harry's fears, although I wonder if he has some of his own... Maybe he'd choose to be a snitch if he could be anything he wanted, that way he could have Harry Potter chasing after him with the kind of passionate intensity the man reserves only for Quidditch... ;D

Oh, my! Poor dear Harry!I can imagine all the patience and devotion needed from Severus' partner when he is lost in one of his books or potions projects. But on the positive side it must be divine when all that devotion is focused on his lover;)
This was a very sweet story and your Ron was just lovely:)

True. Severus' romantic partner would need to have bucketfuls of saintly patience to put up with the man's passion for both potions and books, but I agree with you on the point that being the sole focus of Severus' full attention must be wonderful indeed. :)

Ohh, Harry... You silly, silly boy! Even RON can see that Severus looks at you like you are all he needs! Books are just books. They are good, of course they are and I'm pretty sure that Severus enjoys reading them very much. But without you his life would be empty. And books won't fill this emptiness.

I agree with both your points, you know? If even Ron can tell that Severus is mad about Harry then those looks he keeps sending him must be pretty obvious indeed, and of course books are wonderful things, but they can't possibly compare to the love and companionship that only Harry can give him, and Severus Snape is way too clever not to have realized that already...

Personally, if Harry *has* to be jealous of something, one of Severus' books is wise choice. It was also surprising to me that Ron noticed Severus looks at Harry the same way he does his books. I'd be less surprised if it was Hermione who made the comment, but I suppose she was too entranced by that Arithmancy encyclopedia...

LOL. I'm glad that you can see the sense in Harry's jealousy of Severus' books and, although I suppose that Hermione would have been the perfect choice to tell Harry how Severus looks at him, I was playing with the idea that probably Ron has felt the same sort of jealousy, too, and therefore is better suited than his girlfriend to understand Harry's plight... ;)

I can understand why Harry would want to be one of Severus' books. Looking at them with focused attention, stroking/caressing them, careful with them. but as Ron pointed out he looks just the same way at Harry - Harry just can't see it.

LOL. I've had my better half complaining to me about how he should just find a way to turn himself into a book, in order to get some of my attention, enough times to picture Harry's emotions pretty clearly. I'm also in the perfect position to understand that, although Severus' love of books may be great, it is not as all-consuming as Harry imagines it to be. Hopefully Ron's words will help him understand that much at least... :D
